Thanks a Ford Foundation grant, a youthful Keith Knighton attended the Zoltán Kodály Pedagogical Institute of Music in Kecskemét, Hungary.

In fact, Keith became one of the first music teachers in the United States to study music education under the master teachers trained by Zoltán Kodály himself. It was a profound musical experience that has shaped his career and benefited the thousands of students he has taught ever since.

A lifelong musician and teacher, Keith now operates a singing school for children and parents: the “ Well Trained Singing School” in Salt Lake City, Utah. Ever the music teacher, however, he also regularly travels to Gilroy, California to teach the Kodály method to students at the South Valley Suzuki String Academy.

In the summer of 2008, after 30 years of inspiring music teachers and elementary school children using the methods he first learned in Hungary at the Kodály Institute, he is returning to Kecskemét with the SVSMF Violin Kids.
